Hope in Every Season

Perhaps you’re praying for a spouse, a baby, a career, physical or emotional healing, or the restoration of a relationship, but nothing seems to change.

In Seasons of Waiting, licensed therapist and fellow “waiter” Barb Hill invites you to a safe space where you can slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself and God.

Barb comes alongside you as a compassionate guide to validate the disorienting experience of waiting. As you journey through each season together, something transformative happens–you begin to see God, yourself, and your waiting differently.

This transformation reorients your heart and mind so you can embrace a more fruitful way of waiting; one that empowers you to live wholeheartedly.

Let these thoughtful devotions spark curiosity, speak truth, and reawaken hope in your heart through every season of waiting.

It’s a bold act of courage to choose hope anyway.

I got this anonymously and did figure out who sent me this beautiful book. It has such a gentle way to lead me into healing. I am guided over and over to consider my painful past in the light of God's compassionate healing. I am also working with a wonderful therapist and have benefited from Celebrate Recovery, but this book is definitely part of my healing journey.

Barb is so gifted with words. Sitting with this book is like sitting with a therapist, over a cup of coffee, while they tenderly invite you into a deeper relationship with yourself and the season you’re in. Can’t recommend it enough.

A warm invitation to relax your shoulders

This book is such a warm invitation to relax your shoulders and let yourself own your experience. I didn’t necessarily think I was waiting for something since we just made a big life decision. I thought the waiting was over. But, then I realized only one chapter of waiting had ended and another had begun. The quiz Barb offers on her website helped me identify the season of waiting in in so I could start the book in that season. Each and every devotional has been so poignant and relevant to exactly the season I’m in. I’m learning to relax my shoulders and embrace this season, hard as it might be, knowing I’m not alone and have the comfort of Barb’s own insights to encourage me along the way. A must read for any season you’re in.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. I am pleasantly surprised each time a reflection question or activity is a repeat of something my therapist has encouraged me to do — a beautiful reminder that the work of growing and healing is never truly finished and takes place in every season. Barb effortlessly intertwines Christian faith and psychotherapy in a way that uplifts and empowers the reader while also calling them to higher in walking with the Lord and the calling He has placed on our lives. She offers grace, compassion, empathy, and hope through her gentle spirit and her book serves as a tool to navigate any stage of life with the understanding that we are always waiting for something. The intersectionality of Christianity and counseling is so special, and Barb writes as someone with true understanding that the two can — and should — beautifully coexist.
